Douglas Brian Metts, 73, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 with his beloved family by his side. Early that morning, the clouds lifted and his late wife Gladys Edna (Braddock) Metts ushered him to heaven. Douglas was born on January 22, 1950 in Providence Rhode Island to the late Kenneth Howard Metts and Blanche Ethel Jennings. Douglas "Dougie" Metts graduated from Hope High School and was an integral part of the "Black Peoples Topographical Research Center in Dorchester Massachusetts in the early 70’s. He began working at Sears where he stayed for almost twenty years before switching into his final role as a kitchen supervisor for Foxwoods Casino. Dougie would get up everyday and drive over 40 miles to Connecticut; rain, sleet or snow and never complained. He loved his job and took pride in providing for his wife and children. He is survived by a lot of family, including: his siblings, the late Ashi- El- Eoula- Bey and Kenneth Metts , Efuru Bandele, Diane Metts, Beatrice Bell, Sheila Metts, Arlene Metts, Lynn Metts, Terri Metts, Richard Metts, William Metts and Steve Metts. Douglas leaves behind eight children Damali Ferruzola (Frank Ferruzola), Nabate Metts (Darnika Metts), Malkia Brown (Eric Brown), Aqila Metts, Damani Metts (Emily Metts), Diane Metts, Danielle Metts and Jordan Metts. He was loved by many including 25 grandchildren and their spouses and twenty-two great-grands, friends, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. Dougie was a compassionate, thoughtful, honest man full of integrity. Throughout his life he touched many people and will never be forgotten. Doug was world-renowned for his humor, never holding back his opinion and had a knack for telling jokes. He enjoyed reading, baseball and football (a die hard Yankee’s and Giants fan) bird watching, drawing, music, playing the harmonica and bongos and being around his family. We will remember Dougie for his loving nature, positive personality, playfulness, gorgeous silky hair and being a great example of what an impeccable family man looks like.

Memorial Services will be held at Keefe Funeral Home on Friday November 17th, 2023 from 4pm -7pm. Burial private. Repast will be held at the Atrium 285 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 following the service.
